كيساتن: ادخلي مقهى يابانياً توقف فيه الزمن قليلاً
الكيساتن ليس مجرد مقهى قديم. إنه مساحة صنعت جزءاً من ثقافة المدينة اليومية: قهوة محضرة بعناية، أثاث عاش سنوات طويلة، وموسيقى أو صمت يحددان إيقاع المكان. ادخليه بفضول، لا بتوقع أن يشبه سلسلة مقاهٍ عصرية.
ما الفرق عن المقهى الحديث؟
يركز كثير من الكيساتن على القهوة المقطرة والحلويات أو الأطباق الغربية اليابانية البسيطة. قد يدير المكان شخص واحد، وتكون الخدمة أبطأ لأن التحضير فردي. بعض المقاهي متخصصة في موسيقى الجاز أو المقتنيات، وبعضها حيّ عادي يجتمع فيه الزبائن الدائمون.
ماذا تطلبين؟
ابدئي بقهوة البيت واسألي عن مجموعة الصباح إن وصلتِ باكراً؛ قد تجمع المشروب مع خبز محمص وبيض بسعر واحد. لاحقاً في اليوم، قد تجدين ساندويتش البيض أو نابوليتان أو حلوى موسمية. القوائم الإنجليزية ليست مضمونة، لذلك استخدمي صور القائمة وأسماء بسيطة.

إذا كان الجميع يتحدث بصوت خافت، افعلي الشيء نفسه. لا تحركي الأثاث أو تصوري الزبائن. اسألي قبل تصوير الداخل، وتقبلي الرفض فوراً؛ بعض الأماكن تحمي خصوصية روادها أو تخشى تعطيل العمل. بعد الطلب، امنحي نفسك وقتاً للجلوس من دون شاشة.

بعض الكيساتن القديمة لا يزال يسمح بالتدخين أو يفصل مناطق محدودة، وقد يقبل النقد فقط. راقبي ساعات العمل والعطلة الأسبوعية على الحساب الرسمي إن وجد، لكن لا تتفاجئي إذا تغيّر الجدول. ضعي خياراً ثانياً قريباً، واعتبري الباب المغلق دعوة لاكتشاف شارع آخر.

Kissaten: step into a Japanese café where time slowed down
A kissaten is more than an old café. It is a space that shaped everyday urban culture: carefully prepared coffee, furniture that has lived for decades, and music or silence setting the pace. Enter with curiosity rather than expecting a modern chain.
How is it different from a modern café?
Many kissaten focus on hand-dripped coffee, sweets or simple Japanese-Western dishes. One person may run the room, and service can be slower because preparation is individual. Some specialize in jazz or collections; others are ordinary neighborhood rooms built around regular customers.
What should you order?
Begin with the house coffee and ask about a morning set if you arrive early; it may combine a drink with toast and egg. Later you may find egg sandwiches, naporitan pasta or a seasonal sweet. English menus are not guaranteed, so use menu pictures and simple item names.
Read the room
If everyone speaks softly, do the same. Do not rearrange furniture or photograph customers. Ask before photographing the interior and accept no immediately; some shops protect regulars' privacy or avoid disruption. After ordering, give yourself time to sit without a screen.
Practical notes
Some older kissaten still allow smoking or have limited separated areas, and some are cash-only. Check hours and weekly closures on an official account when one exists, but expect schedules to shift. Keep a second option nearby and treat a closed door as an invitation to explore another street.
